Demands that the PP for once be “in favor” of pensioners and support the reform
MADRID, 10 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The second vice president, Yolanda Díaz, has defended that the coalition partners have to focus on reaching agreements such as pensions, because that is what politics consists of, and has reiterated that there should not have been a situation of shock over the reform of the Law ‘only yes is yes’.
In statements to ‘La Sexta’, collected by Europa Press, he praised the agreement between Unidas Podemos and PSOE for the pension reform, which marks the line of what the Government is focused on “transforming the life” of the country based on to measures such as the increase in the interprofessional minimum wage (SMI).
Asked about the change in dynamics after the confrontation between the partners over the ‘only yes is yes’ Law, Díaz has admitted that “she does not like this way of doing things” and that she has already pointed out that “it should never have come this far” .
“What we have to do is agreements like these,” Díaz emphasized to highlight that “walking together” the Government achieves progress, a “lesson” that the recent celebration of 8-M has left.
An example of this, the vice president has recounted, is the “very long” negotiation of her space with the Minister of Social Security, José Luis Escrivá, since they had differences but in the end a consensus was reached.
Therefore, he has proclaimed that when you want to “advance”, the parties “meet” and that the public asks the political class to “do this”.
“They will always find me in this place and of course signing agreements”, he insisted, adding that sometimes “losing a little in the negotiation society wins” and that politics consists of dialogue with a view to reaching agreements.
On the other hand, he has criticized that the PP’s Institutional Deputy Secretary, Esteban González Pons, has questioned the agreement with Brussels on pensions after slipping this morning that his formation will wait until confirming that it has the backing of the EU.
In this way, he has demanded that the PP leaders “rectify” because they know “very well” that Escrivá has been working for months with the European Commission.
What’s more, he has demanded that the PP “for once side with the pensioners”, respect social dialogue and vote in favor of this “key norm” for the social State and the country’s workers, although he suspects that “a again” it seems that it is not in that line. Finally, he has launched that the popular ones have behaved like “ombudsmen” because during this legislature they have gone to Europe against the Government.
