MADRID, 25 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Minister of Justice, Pilar Llop, has maintained this Tuesday that the Government, when addressing the debate on the reform of the crime of sedition, has not ruled on a possible reduction of sentences by half, explaining that for now The Executive has only spoken of the need to adapt the conduct of this criminal type to the “year 2022”.
“In your question you speak of reducing sentences by half, but you will not have heard at any time that this Government has made a similar statement,” he said in response to Citizens Senator Miguel Sánchez, during the control session with the Government in the High camera.
Llop has indicated that “the only thing he may have heard is the verification that the criminal type of sedition regulated in our Penal Code, the conduct he describes has ceased to be adjusted in relation to the way in which today, in the year 2022 , these crimes are committed against public order and against the constitutional order”.
“I insist that any far-reaching reform that affects the penal system must be done away from specific cases, from situations. One must move away from making hot reforms and do so trying to obtain the greatest possible consensus,” the minister stressed.
