Judge José Luis Calama must decide whether to open a case to investigate the event, which has injured a legation worker

The National Court has assumed the investigation regarding the explosion that took place this Wednesday at the Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid and that injured a delegation worker while handling a letter, according to legal sources explained to Europa Press.

The same sources indicate that the matter has fallen to the Central Court of Instruction Number 4, which is on duty this week. Therefore, it will be its owner, magistrate José Luis Calama, in charge of deciding whether to initiate preliminary proceedings and assume the investigation of these facts.

The judge must now decide whether the National Court is competent to investigate this event. The sources consulted advance that, as it is an incident with an explosive, the court itself would be the one to undertake the investigation.

The National Police was notified of the explosion at 1:15 p.m., activating a device at the Embassy located at Ronda de la Abubilla, number 52, made up of Tedax specialists and canine guides.

Police sources confirm that the worker has minor injuries and has moved by his own means to the Nuestra Señora de América Hospital, on Arturo Soria street in Madrid.

The letter, according to other sources, had not been detected by the private surveillance service of the Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid.
