MILAN, July 20, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Deenova, the leading European healthcare automation and services company, today announced the award of the public tender for the supply of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) traceability systems for medical devices at the University Hospital of Parma.

The five-year contract will cover everything from the provision of personnel and consumables to technical assistance services. Deenova’s D8 series, to be implemented at AOU Parma, offers widely recognized benefits through bespoke service design and a combination of dedicated staff, unique software and hardware.

The D8-series products, including Orbit software, RFID Sentinel cabinet, RFID Sentry container, and RFID Check-in (Kanban) system, identify and track everything handled by the hospital pharmacy and shipped to the operating rooms. This allows hospitals to monitor inventory, automate and manage supply chain processes, reduce equipment loss, and improve patient safety by ensuring the availability of the right equipment in the right place at the right time. The time dedicated to the preparation of periprocedural kits is reduced, as well as the routes and openings in operating rooms.

Giorgio Pavesi, CEO of Deenova stated: “We are delighted to continue to expand our customer base in Italy, by adding AOU Parma. Our mission is to offer the most cost-effective, digital and automated solutions for drug and medical device management. We look forward to working with AOU Parma to implement our innovative and customized solutions to meet your specific needs.”

In the current context of the controversial Italian decree “Medical Device Take Back”, Deenova’s D8 series is a valuable solution that helps hospitals to better control their expenses on medical devices through optimal management of residual shelf life, stock reduction, elimination of waste, errors and duplicate orders, as well as accurate accounting reporting for each logistics model. While providing these benefits, the D8 series significantly reduces administrative and logistical tasks for OR professionals, allowing for an overall increase in efficiency. First deployed at Policlinico Gemelli in Rome in 2015, Deenova’s D8 series is currently used in more than 110 operating rooms, achieving many notable goals, including improved drug and device turnover rate, full traceability to patient, faster provider notifications, and safety alerts.

This simplified and controlled process leads to cost savings and better patient care, in line with the goals of hospitals and the Italian healthcare system.
