Both companies will present their new solution during the MVNOs World Congress in June 2023

MADRID, June 5, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Valid, the champion of interoperable eSIM services, has joined forces with Cobira, a trusted B2B secure IoT connectivity provider, to introduce its innovative private network offering. This solution enables IoT/M2M and consumer devices to seamlessly transition from public networks to designated private networks and maintain uninterrupted connectivity.

Demand for private network capabilities is expected to generate $64 billion in revenue by 2030, according to ABI Research. Although mobile networks span a range of cellular technologies from 2G to 5G, the introduction of 5G technology has fueled increased demand for private networks, which offer secure and reliable connectivity, making them attractive for mission-critical operations, deployments of IoT and data privacy. These private networks offer coverage in outdoor locations, such as ports and mines, and indoors, such as manufacturing production lines, warehouses, secure campuses, and healthcare systems.

The partnership combines Valid’s state-of-the-art interoperable technology, which includes a set of applets, with Cobira’s connectivity management service and its global coverage of data on public networks, providing a controlled mechanism to identify private network campuses and facilitate a seamless switch to public networks when necessary. The SIM or eSIM module, available in removable or soldered format, securely manages the switching mechanism, stores applicable business rules for enforcement and control at the edge, while being able to be managed remotely.

Thomas Brandt-Knudsen, Cobira’s Chief Scientist, said: “Private networks are rapidly gaining momentum and present new opportunities for infrastructure providers, system integrators and MNOs around the world. Our collaboration with Valid allows us to expand our services of connectivity to new customers and foster this emerging segment within the mobile industry. We are delighted to be part of this innovative initiative that leverages the connectivity of public networks to empower private environments.”

Pierre Lassus, Senior Vice President of Global Software

The collaboration between Valid and Cobira lays the foundation to revolutionize connectivity experiences, enabling IoT and consumer devices to work seamlessly across private and public networks. With their expertise and innovative solutions, the two companies are poised to shape the future of network connectivity, further empowering businesses and individuals in an increasingly connected world.
