SHANGHAI, April 19, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — On April 19, CATL introduced the state-of-the-art condensed battery at Auto Shanghai. With energy density up to 500 Wh/kg, it can achieve high energy density and high safety level at the same time in creative ways, opening up a whole new electrification scenario for passenger aircraft. CATL can achieve mass production of the condensing battery in a short period of time.
To cope with changes in super-high energy density materials resulting from electrochemical reactions, CATL’s condensed battery leverages high-conductivity biomimetic condensed-state electrolytes to build a micron-level self-adaptive network structure that can adjust interactive forces. between the strands, thus improving the conductive performance of the cells and, in turn, the efficiency of lithium ion transport, while increasing the stability of the microstructure.
In addition, the condensed battery integrates a number of innovative technologies, such as high-energy-density cathode materials, innovative anode materials, separators, and manufacturing processes, which offer excellent charge and discharge performance as well as good safety performance.
The launch of this cutting-edge technology breaks the limits that have restricted the development of the battery industry for so long and will open up a new electrification arena focused on a high level of safety and light weight. At present, CATL is cooperating with partners in developing electric passenger aircraft and practicing aviation-level standards and tests in accordance with aviation safety and quality requirements.
