During the operation “the delivery of the Rolex watches by the president was not located or occurred”

MADRID, 31 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Peruvian Prosecutor’s Office has issued a statement this Sunday regarding the records “linked to the investigation against Dina Boluarte”, president of the country, within the framework of the ‘Rolex case’, which considers possible crimes of undue enrichment and failure to record declaration of documents related to the luxury watches used by the leader.

“The investigation, carried out at the home, office and presidential residence, in the Government Palace, on the night of March 29 and early hours of March 30, 2024, was carried out by order of the Supreme Court of Preparatory Investigation of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Republic; therefore, it is ruled out that our intervention was illegitimate, unconstitutional and abusive,” the Prosecutor’s Office argued in the aforementioned note.

Likewise, the public entity has defended, contrary to the president’s accusations, that “the entry into the home of the person under investigation was carried out after touching the intercom and realizing the reasons for the fiscal and police presence of Daniel. Gómez Boluarte, requesting voluntary access to the interior of the home, who indicated that ‘wait a moment.'”

In this regard, the authorities have explained that, after a few minutes, they rang the doorbell of the house again “repeatedly” without receiving a response, so they proceeded to “unlock the main door, as stated in the minutes of search with unlocking and notification of judicial measure”.

Likewise, the Public Ministry has denied its responsibility in the dissemination of the images of the moment in which the entry into the house occurred, alleging that there were no members of the Institutional Image office present at the scene.

They have also disassociated themselves “from other photographs or videos of documents, cards, minutes, etc., that have been circulating through the different media and social networks in relation to the aforementioned tax action.”

“In the aforementioned procedure, the delivery of the Rolex watches by the President of the Republic was not located or occurred, despite being requested; however, other elements of interest for the investigation were obtained,” concludes the Prosecutor’s Office, which recalls that “the President of the Republic has been formally summoned to exhibit the Rolex watches and give a statement on Friday, April 5, 2024.”
