He warns that now they want to negotiate the budgets, the Catalan nation and the right of self-determination piece by piece

The former president of the Generalitat and Junts MEP, Carles Puigdemont, has thanked the PSOE for its willingness to agree on the Amnesty Law, warning that its approval will allow “the independence process to continue.”

“We have every right to continue with the independence process, to engage in politics and to exercise our rights without being violated by State structures,” he defended in a note in ‘X’ collected by Europa Press.

He has also warned the Government that, after the amnesty pact, he cannot consider anything approved and has said that now it is time to negotiate piece by piece, “from the budgets to national recognition and the exercise of the right to self-determination.”

He assured that “with the approval of the Amnesty Law in the Justice Commission of the Spanish Congress, today a very important step has been taken to end the repression against the independence process.”

For Puigdemont, the independence process is legitimate, democratic and non-violent, and he has criticized that the State fights it “in an unacceptable way and incompatible with the rule of law.”

Likewise, he has stated that the Amnesty Law will reverse the situation of “repression” against the independence movement in a way that pardons could not have guaranteed in any way.

He has maintained that the agreement for the Amnesty Law was one of the conditions to be able to have a relationship with the Government parties “without the interference of the patriotic judiciary” and to be able to work and advance within the framework they agreed upon for the president’s investiture. Pedro Sánchez.

Finally, he thanked the efforts of the Junts negotiating team and the “willingness” of the PSOE to introduce the necessary improvements into the law to resolve the doubts and fears that led them to vote against the initial proposal, according to him.
