MILAN, February 2, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — MAIRE announces that NEXTCHEM (Sustainable Technology Solutions), through its subsidiary NextChem Tech, has signed a contract with Paul Wurth S.A., a subsidiary of SMS group (‘Paul Wurth’) , and Norsk e-Fuel AS (‘Norsk e-Fuel’) engineering and licensing related to NX CPO to be applied in the first industrial-scale plant capable of producing SAF from green hydrogen and biogenic CO in Mosjøen, Norway. This will be the first factory built by Norsk e-Fuel AS, a Norwegian project developer backed by a strong group of shareholders including, among others, Paul Wurth.
NextChem Tech will apply its patented NX CPO technology, an advanced innovative process to produce synthesis gas via a very rapid controlled partial oxidation reaction. The application of this versatile technology to the production of synthetic fuel contributes to effectively improve carbon recovery performance.
The first plant to be built by Norsk e-Fuel will have a production capacity of 40,000 tpa of e-Fuels and will come into operation after 2026. According to the initial design, two additional facilities will be built with a capacity of approximately 80,000 tpa each, from now until 2030. The objective is to effectively reduce current emissions produced by aviation by taking advantage of the use of cutting-edge technologies to produce e-Fuels.
