The PNV has informed Iñigo Urkullu that it will not repeat as Lehendakari candidate in the next Basque regional elections, considering that it was necessary to “bet on a change of cycle”, as El Correo reported this Friday. For its part, the management of the jeltzale formation has not denied or confirmed this information, and has assured that it has not yet started its internal electoral process to designate candidates.

El Correo assures that the leadership of the PNV had a conversation yesterday with Urkullu in which they conveyed their conclusions about the need to commit to “a change of cycle” at a time when the competition of EH Bildu in Euskadi and Madrid “threatens “the hegemony of the jeltzales.

For her part, the EBB executive, Jeltzale, has neither denied nor confirmed the information, and has limited herself to explaining, in a statement, that “she has not yet begun the process to configure the candidacies with which the PNV will participate in the elections.” next Basque elections”.

In this sense, he has assured that “it is planned that the Jeltzale National Executive will address this matter” in the meeting that will be held next Monday, November 27.
