The Spanish athlete Adel Mechaal was “happy” on Monday for having won silver in the 3,000-meter European Indoor Track in Istanbul (Turkey) and “for being competitive once again”, at the same time that he confessed that “he wanted to win gold at home” and celebrated having put up a “battle” against the Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen, who was “very strong” to win the title.
“I wanted to win gold at home, but he was in very strong shape, but I fought him. I’m happy for the medal and to be competitive once again. He (Ingebrigtsen) made a national record, I didn’t get into his game and I tried to be as cold as possible.
