MADRID, 27 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Romanian telecommunications operator Digi has announced that it is testing the implementation in Spain of a fiber service of up to 50 gigabits per second (Gbps), as reported in a statement.

The company has assured that it is “the first national operator and one of the first worldwide” to test this service, which, in its opinion, “will change the browsing experience and the quality of the internet connection.”

Furthermore, it has stressed that its network in Spain is already prepared to be able to offer this service “in the future”, although it has not detailed what deadlines it has for this.

“50 Gbps fiber offers the highest possible speed with a latency of less than 1 millisecond (ms), favors more efficient use of energy and the ability to download a large volume of information in the shortest possible time, such as virtual reality applications or 8K videos,” the company added.

In this context, Digi has stressed that in September 2021 it became the first operator in the country to offer fiber of up to 10 Gbps, while recalling that its current coverage reaches 36 Spanish provinces.
