The Italian Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, has indicated that countries such as Turkey, the Vatican or China can be “determining” when it comes to bringing the governments of Ukraine and Russia to sit down at a dialogue table to form some kind of agreement. of peace.

Highlighting the role of Turkey in recent months, where the country led by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has made a multitude of efforts for both sides to reach a peace agreement, Tajani mentioned which countries, in his opinion, could be at a possible dialogue table.

“I think that Turkey, together with the United Nations, the Vatican, China and the United States, can be decisive in bringing the two parties to sit at a table that leads, at least, to a ceasefire,” Tajani said during an interview. with the public radio station Radio 1.

In this sense, he has congratulated Turkey for the role it has played during the conflict so far.

“Certainly, Turkey can do a lot. It has already done a lot and I have encouraged the Turkish government to continue its attempts to get Russia and Ukraine to reach a peace agreement,” said the head of Italian diplomacy.
