The Ukrainian authorities have reported this Monday that 40 people have already died, including three children, due to an attack carried out on Saturday by the Russian Army against a residential building in the city of Dnipro, in eastern Ukraine.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine has released a message on its official Telegram channel in which it has updated the balance of victims of the event, also raising the number of injured people to 75, 14 of them minors.

The authorities have managed to rescue 39 people, six of them minors, and have warned that it is estimated that more than 30 others are still missing. The emergency services have already removed more than 8,000 tons of debris and 41 damaged cars.

Earlier, the governor of the homonymous province, Valentin Reznichenko, had indicated that the rescue services had been working throughout the night removing bodies and survivors from the rubble.

“Search and rescue operations and the dismantling of dangerous structural elements are ongoing,” said the Emergency Service, whose psychologists have also treated nearly a hundred victims.

On the other hand, the emergency authorities have reported that a total of 544 people and 75 units have participated in the rescue operation.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmigal reported on Sunday that Ukraine had been the target of more than 30 missiles launched by the Russian Armed Forces, 20 of which managed to be shot down by defense systems.
