MADRID, 8 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –
A strong storm has shaken the Portuguese city of Porto this Saturday and has caused the flooding of several streets in the center as well as numerous material damages.
The Emergency and Civil Protection service of the Porto Metropolitan Area has claimed to receive more than 150 requests for help in just an hour and a half due to flooding in homes and public roads, with a greater concentration of requests in the center of the city.
According to the Portuguese agency Lusa, the heavy rains have fallen in a short period of time and have bathed the entire city of Porto, with greater intensity in the center, through Mouzinho da Silveira street, which connects the São Bento with the Ribeira do Porto.
This area has been especially affected by being flooded with mud, gravel and sand from the nearby works being carried out for the expansion of the city’s metro.
In addition, along Mouzinho da Silveira street, the floodwaters have caused several blocks of stones to jump off the road, forcing the interruption of traffic from São Bento to Largo de São Domingos.
