MADRID, 7 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

More than 10,000 people demonstrated this Saturday in the city of Tel Aviv against the new ultra-conservative Israeli government led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with special emphasis on the recent judicial reform announced by the Executive.

The Minister of Justice, Yariv Levin, this week announced changes in the judicial system that, according to the organizers, pose a threat to the independence of judges, reports ‘The Times of Israel’.

The protesters have marched through the streets of the city until ending up in front of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, in Habima Square. Organizations such as the left-wing group Estamos Juntos and other formations that have denounced the “coup d’état perpetrated by a criminal government” have participated in the march.

“We are not going to sit at home with our arms crossed and we are not going to let ourselves be overcome by despair and frustration. As long as there is a battle, there will be hope,” the conveners have warned.

From Breaking the Silence they have highlighted that this Friday’s march allows “building a new democratic field” that “includes Jews and Arabs, men and women, heterosexuals and LGTBQ, secular and religious,… united against an evil government, for A better future”.

Deputies from the Labor Party or the Hadash-Taal Arab coalition have seconded the call. The former centrist minister Tzipi Livni has also attended.
