MADRID, 4 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish badminton player Carolina Marín said goodbye this Friday to the Hylo Open, which takes place in Saarbrücken (Germany), when she fell (21-19, 19-21, 19-21) against the Chinese Zhang Yi Man, in what was became his last game of the season.

“This game becomes the last of the year. It’s time to disconnect and recharge batteries. I’ll be back in 2023 with more force,” the 2016 Olympic champion wrote on her Twitter account.

Marín, first seeded in the German tournament, was unable to continue the good feelings she had from last week with the final at the French Open. Zhang Yi Man took revenge, in a very tight match, for a 4-0 that he brought in direct duels.

“Here ends my year, my 2022. Very pissed off. The third set was going very well, but suddenly that insecurity and nerves appear and makes me not finish the match as I would have liked,” she added.

“It’s been a very complicated year. We got very good things out of it. 2023 is going to be a very tight schedule but we’re going to face it by achieving the goals we set for ourselves,” said Marín, who in France proved to be back among the best after leaving behind his last and serious knee injury.

The six-time European champion and three-time world champion was on track to go to the semifinals in Germany with a 15-7 in the third set, but she conceded that comeback that made her say goodbye to the year with the anger she later confessed, already thinking about competing since January.
