The South Korean Armed Forces will carry out computer-simulated military exercises next week in order to respond to possible threats from North Korea such as its nuclear or missile programs.
Specifically, the South Korean Army will carry out the annual Taegeuk maneuver on November 7 and 10, with which soldiers will be prepared to respond in real missions, as reported by the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) in a statement. .
“We will master the ability to carry out practical missions in preparation (…) Taegeuk proceeds as a ‘war game’, like a computer simulation, without moving troops or equipment,” the JCS reported in the letter.
This announcement comes at a time when tensions between Pyogyang and Seoul are on the rise following North Korea’s launch of dozens of missiles in the last month.
