MADRID, 4 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The social network Twitter has sent an email to its workers on Thursday night notifying them that a drastic reduction in the company’s workforce, which currently employs 7,500 people, will begin on Friday morning.
As the newspaper ‘The Washington Post’ has learned, the company recently acquired by tycoon Elon Musk will notify its employees at 9:00 a.m. local time (5:00 p.m. Spanish peninsular time) whether or not they continue in the company.
Specifically, those who keep their jobs will be notified in the company email, while those who lose their jobs will receive the information of their dismissal through their personal email.
Until then, Twitter has temporarily closed its offices and suspended access to ID cards “to help ensure the security of each employee, as well as Twitter’s systems and customer data.”
“Team, in an effort to put Twitter on a healthy path, we will go through the difficult process of reducing our global workforce on Friday,” says the notification sent to Twitter workers.
“We recognize that this will affect several people who have made valuable contributions to Twitter, but unfortunately this action is necessary to ensure the success of the company in the future,” he adds, according to the aforementioned newspaper.
This is the company’s first official communication with its employees since Elon Musk bought the company on October 28, after which dozens of Twitter workers shared a blue heart on the social network as a sign of farewell.
The billionaire plans to eliminate half of the Twitter workforce, thus complying with plans to cut the costs of the social media platform that he acquired for 44,000 million dollars (a similar figure in euros), according to experts consulted by the agency. Bloomberg.
