MADRID, 31 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has denounced with some sarcasm that the Russian Armed Forces have launched a new offensive on Monday “on the occasion of Halloween”, and has appealed to “Santa Javelin and San HIMARS”, two of the defense systems of the that the Ukrainian troops have.
“On the occasion of Halloween, the Russians have decided to carry out another act of terror with missiles. But it is All Saints’ Day. Saint Javelin and Saint HIMARS will subdue evil spirits,” the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said in its Twitter social network profile.
With this publication, the Ukrainian defense portfolio has made use of the words ‘Santa Javelin’ and ‘San HIMARS’, two expressions popularized on social networks among sectors related to Ukraine that praise the effectiveness of both defense systems supplied to kyiv.
Javelins are a type of anti-tank missile supplied by the United States to Ukraine as part of the war. The HIMARS, meanwhile, are multiple launch rocket systems, also supplied by Washington.
Both expressions were popularized especially during the first stages of the war, when Russia launched its offensive against a country that at that time did not have the defensive capabilities that it now has. The United States has been one of the countries that has allocated the most weapons to Ukraine.
