MADRID, 31 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The French collegiate Stéphanie Frappart will direct this Wednesday (6:45 p.m.) Real Madrid-Celtic, while the Israeli Orel Grinfeeld will referee the match, also on Wednesday (9:00 p.m.), between Manchester City and Sevilla, all of them duels corresponding to the sixth and last day of the group stage of the Champions League.
The gala, which will be accompanied by fellow Frenchman Benoît Millot in the VAR, will be the first referee to whistle at the Santiago Bernabéu in the Champions League, backed by extensive experience in major tournaments. Her debut in the top continental club competition came in December 2020, becoming the first referee to lead a Champions League match at Juventus-Dinamo kyiv.
Frappart, 38, and a FIFA referee since 2011, has already officiated two matches in the Europa League, and is a regular in Ligue 1. In 2018 she officiated the U-20 Women’s World Cup final and in 2019 she officiated the absolute Women’s World Cup final between the United States and the Netherlands. That same year, she became the first woman in history appointed to referee the European Super Cup final.
For his part, the match between Manchester City and Sevilla will be directed by the Israeli Orel Grinfeeld, who has already refereed two matches in the Champions League group stage this year. At the head of the VAR will be his compatriot Roi Reinshreiber.
