MADRID, 30 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso (Alpine) explained the complicated Saturday he had to start ninth in the Mexican Grand Prix, with the aim of helping “until the last lap” that his team, the one with its “history in the F1”, finished fourth in the World Cup.

“Since FP3 we have lost our rhythm a bit, it has taken its toll on us. In Q1 we were in thirteenth place, I think; in Q2 we were tenth by a hair… and now in Q3 ninth. In FP2 we were doing moderately well, but in FP3 we had to make several changes for the car to survive the temperatures tomorrow,” he told Dazn.

The double world champion hoped to be in the points and help the sum in the Constructors’ World Cup, even if it is his farewell and next year he has his place at Aston Martin. “We have lost some performance today, but the important thing is to see the checkered flag tomorrow and score some points,” he said.

“The truth is that this year has been a bit strange because of the points we have lost. The important thing is to help Alpine to finish fourth in the constructors. It is the team of my history in Formula 1. It is Renault. The team that gave me the opportunity to return to this sport so I am going to help them until the last lap”, he finished.
