Barça grows and passes over Armani Milano

Jasikevicius’s men return to the path of victory in the Euroleague and put the 3-2 in the table

MADRID, 28 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Barça added its third victory in the Regular Phase of the Euroleague 2022-2023 by winning this Friday at the Palau Blaugrana by 74-56 against the Italian EA7 Emporio Armani Milano, in a match that dominated from start to finish against a rival that barely appeared after the break.

After an uneven start in the Euroleague, with two wins and two losses, Sarunas Jasikevicius’s men return to the path of victory in the top continental competition with a resounding victory against Ettore Messina’s men, which helps them to forget about their defeat against the Lithuanian Zalgiris (73-72).

Mike Tobey (13 points), Cory Higgins (11) and Tomas Satoransky (9) were the most outstanding of the Blaugrana team that, from a great defensive balance, overwhelmed the Milanese in all facets of the game, despite the great scoring record of the former Barcelona player Brandon Davies (18).

The American did not wrinkle on his return to the Palau and, although the battle began evenly and with little success from the three-point line, Davies asked for all the balls, in an overwhelming start to the game with twelve points and five rebounds. However, the match remained tight well into the second quarter.

Jan Vesely’s 2 1 put Barça’s biggest lead (29-24) up until then and started the culé breakaway. Sarunas Jasikevicius’s team smelled the blood and went straight ahead, laying the foundations for a good defense and with a great scoring success by Mike Tobey (13), who helped his team go to the locker room with a partial of 22-8 and 14 on the scoreboard (43-29).

The Blaugrana team kept up their good work after the break. Their defense started to win the game in a low-scoring third quarter that reached the halfway point at 6-3. From then on, Satoransky put the team on his back with 9 points and 6 rebounds. The Czech, helped by an immeasurable Mike Tobey, began to make a comeback attempt impossible for Milan, who saw how they went into the last quarter with a 20-point deficit (61-41).

In the last ten minutes, Jasikevicius’s men maintained their lead and knew how to stop the attacks of the Italian team in an unsuccessful attempt to close the gap. The ‘healthy’ clash between James Nnaji and Brandon Davies was the highlight of a last quarter in which the Blaugrana team knew how to like each other to certify what was their third victory in the Euroleague (74-56).
