MADRID, 27 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, acknowledged that the eliminations of FC Barcelona, ??Atlético de Madrid and Sevilla from the Champions League are “a disappointment”, but he believes that the analysis of the situation should be done based on what happened to some “last years” which he considers to have been more successful than for the English Premier League.

“Six months ago we had two semi-finalists and we have gone from being the best to being a disaster. It has been a disappointment, it is obvious, but when you analyze the situation of a company or an institution it is the story of recent years. If it had happened to us the last five years…”, Tebas pointed out after the meeting of the clubs this Thursday.

The leader also stressed that in LaLiga there are “the Ballon d’Or (Karim Benzema) and the best youngster (Gavi)” and that in this century Spanish football has won “34 European titles in the last 20 years and the Premier, 13” . “In the last ten years, 60 percent of the titles are Spanish,” he detailed.

In any case, he again made it clear that “things are happening that endanger competitiveness”, especially due to the economic power of English football. “In LaLiga, very similar to the Bundesliga, the signings add up to a turnover of 4,500 million, while the Premier reaches 7,500. That affects and is what is happening to us,” he pointed out.

For this reason, he believes that it is necessary to choose between “sustainable leagues” or that “clubs with constant losses” are admitted, which will allow “entry to state clubs, patrons…”. “Football will be denatured. I am in favor of the entry of investors, but not of the losses,” he sentenced.
