MADRID, 26 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Napoli thrashed (3-0) Scottish Rangers this Wednesday and certified their full victories in the Champions League, while Liverpool did the same in Amsterdam (0-3), securing second place, while Tottenham brushed (1 -1) the comeback against Sporting Lisbon with a goal disallowed by Harry Kane in the last minute, leaving Group D up in the air.
In group A, Napoli, who were already classified, beat Rangers (3-0) with solvency and certified the first place, in a game that they dominated from start to finish and in which the Scots, overwhelmed in the first quarter hour by Simeone, who scored a brace, did not appear for much of the match. Ostigard closed the win almost at the end, certifying the full victories of Luciano Spalletti’s men in the highest European competition.
For its part, the English Liverpool sealed its classification to the round of 16 after thrashing (0-3) Ajax Amsterdam, certifying the second position in the group, to the detriment of the Dutch team that still has not secured third place. Goals from Salah, Darwin Núñez and Elliot gave victory to Jürgen Klopp’s men.
On the other hand, Group D will be decided next week on the last day. Sporting Lisbon and English Tottenham signed the tables (1-1) in a frenetic game that London had in their hands with a goal disallowed by Kane at the last minute.
Edwards, a youth squad for the Londoners, was the executioner of his former team and, together with the Spanish goalkeeper Adán, they stood out above the rest. Rodrigo Betancur took advantage of a Perisic corner kick almost at the end to equalize. Kane had the comeback in his boots but the referee annulled the Englishman’s goal for offside, much protested by Antonio Conte, who received the red.
Eintracht Frankfurt had more efficiency, which settled (2-1) their match against Olympique Marseille, and tightens, even more if possible, the positions that give access to the round of 16. With a share for each team, the Germans made the most of their chances with goals from Kamada and Kolo Muani and, although Guendouzi equalized for the French, the German strike decided victory for the hosts.
In addition, in group B of Atlético de Madrid, Cholo Simeone’s men could not get past the draw (2-2) against Bayer Leverkusen and say goodbye to the Champions League. For its part, Porto overwhelmed Bruges (0-4) at the Jan Breydel, and certified their place in the next round, placing themselves one point behind the Belgian team, with which they will play for first place next week.
Two goals from Taremi, one from Evanilson and another from Eustaquio ended Mignolet’s unbeaten run, who hadn’t conceded a goal in the previous four games. In the other goal, Diogo Costa was the protagonist by saving two consecutive penalties with 0-1 on the scoreboard.
Finally, in group C, FC Barcelona is already a Europa League team after Inter Milan’s thrashing of Viktoria Plzen. Goals from Mkhitaryan, Dzeko twice and Lukaku gave the Italians second place in the group. Barcelona already knew their destiny before playing against Bayern, who with goals from Mané, Choupo-Moting and Pavard stormed the Camp Nou and secured first place.
