MADRID, 23 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
An Iraqi court has sentenced to death this Sunday an individual allegedly linked to the Islamic State jihadist organization accused of detonating a car bomb that killed 16 people during a wedding in the west of the country almost six years ago.
The attack occurred in Anbar province in November 2016 and was carried out by a suicide bomber who drove the vehicle to the ceremony. The convicted man this Sunday is considered to be the individual who activated the explosives with remote control, according to what police sources told DPA at the time.
The Anbar Criminal Court confirmed this Sunday the sentence against this alleged terrorist for his role in the attack on the wedding in the town of Amiriya Falluja, according to the opinion collected by the official Iraqi news agency INA.
This ruling is irreversible, according to the Iraqi Justice, and the convicted person, who according to the statement “has confessed his responsibility” will not be able to appeal the sentence.
