MADRID, 23 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The jihadist organization Al Shabaab launched an attack on a hotel in the Somali city of Kismayo this Sunday, as announced by the group and confirmed by local security sources, without for now having concrete information on victims.

The attack has been directed against the Tawakal hotel and has been preceded by a suicide attack, as the terrorist group has made known in a statement collected by the SITE organization, specialized in monitoring extremist activities.

Somali military spokesman Abdiasis Abu Musab and witnesses in the area have told the Somali Times that shots are being heard inside the hotel, where members of the Jubaland regional administration usually work.

Kismayo is the commercial capital of this region in the south of the country, in which Al Shabaab is particularly active despite its expulsion in 2012 by Somali forces.
