MADRID, 22 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Communist Party of China has chosen this Saturday the new composition of the Central Committee during the celebration of its twentieth national congress, according to the Xinhua agency.

In a congress chaired by Chinese President Xi Jinping, the members of the Chinese Communist Party have elected the 200 people who will lead the Central Committee, as well as 170 alternates, and who will lead the party for the next five years.

Xi has called on the new Central Committee, whose names are still unknown, to “unswervingly” follow the path of political development of socialism with Chinese characteristics and adhere to “the organic unity of the party leadership.”

In addition, it has shown its willingness to “strengthen the guarantee of popular control of the country” by developing “comprehensively” consultative democracy, as well as promoting “popular democracy” and consolidating a “patriotic united front”, according to the aforementioned agency.

The Chinese president has expressed his desire to “better play the role of the rule of law” in consolidating the foundations, comprehensively building a modern socialist country.

“It is necessary to improve the socialist legal system with Chinese characteristics with the Constitution as the axis, firmly promote the law-based administration, administer justice rigorously and impartially, and speed up the construction of a law-governed society,” he added.

However, Xi has recalled the importance of implementing “the general concept of national security” in the Central Committee’s policies, as well as maintaining national security throughout the process “of all aspects of the work of the party and the country.”

“It is necessary to improve the national security system, improve the ability to maintain national security, improve the governance level of public security,” Xi said.

Xi is thus heading towards the consolidation of his power in the face of a “complex environment at the international level” and with “numerous internal challenges”, as some members of the party leadership have noted, highlighting the “unusual and extraordinary” achievements of a politician whose rising career initially surprised delegates and members of what is the largest political organization in the world.
