The Paris Saint-Germain striker Neymar da Silva has arrived at the Barcelona Court at around 9:45 a.m., where the trial begins this Monday in which he faces a request for a sentence of five years in prison for alleged corruption and fraud in his signing for FC Barcelona from Santos FC in 2013.
The trial is expected to continue for the next two weeks and the defendants’ parents and former Barça presidents Sandro Rosell -who arrived at the Palace of Justice before 9:30 a.m.- and Josep Maria will also be on the defendant’s bench. Bartomeu, who at that time was the club’s first vice president and arrived minutes after Neymar.
Neymar greeted the press upon entering the Court building and, before entering the room where the trial is being held, he hugged Rossell; then Bartomeu entered, who also greeted them both with a hug.
This Monday’s session will begin with the processing of preliminary issues and then several witnesses are summoned to testify, including the former president of the Cercle d’Economia and then vice president of FC Barcelona, ??Javier Faus, and the former Barça sports director Andoni Zubizarreta.
