MADRID, 29 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Basque Nationalist Party (EAJ-PNV) has warned that the design of the new taxes on banks and energy companies announced by the Government “collides head-on” with the tax systems of the Basque Country and Navarra, at the same time that it represents a “direct damage” to the citizens of both territories.
However, the Basque parliamentary group in Congress has indicated that it does share the tax fund, but not the form, since it generates a “serious problem” with both the Basque Economic Agreement and the Navarre Agreement. “This proposal empties both fiscal instruments of content and prevents their Haciendas from collecting a single euro of what is taxed on companies in these sectors,” he explains in a statement.
In this context, the Basque formation has summoned the Government and the parliamentary groups that support it to “establish a space for dialogue” in which to negotiate the management of this tax by the Provincial Councils, as well as to guarantee the exceptional character of the Provincial Council. “Not doing so would mean ignoring the current legal framework and generating serious damage to Basque and Navarrese citizens,” he warns.
