MADRID, 29 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The General Telecommunications Law enters into force tomorrow, 20 days after the text was approved in the Congress of Deputies, as published this Wednesday by the Official State Gazette (BOE).
Thus, with its publication, the bulk of the law will come into force as of tomorrow, although deadlines have been set for the development of some of its most relevant precepts.
Among them is the Government’s commitment to develop measures that, within a year, allow all citizens to enjoy a minimum connection of 100 Mbps per second. Likewise, the right of citizens not to receive unwanted calls will also come into force within 12 months.
The new law transposes a European directive and guarantees new rights for users such as greater transparency in operator contracts or the reform of universal service, which will include Internet connection and exclude booths.
Other aspects included are the limitation of the duration of contracts to 24 months, the first regulation of service packages, the extension of portability rights and the conservation of the balance of a prepaid mobile when changing operator.
