3 slightly injured transferred to Mollet Hospital (Barcelona)

Four people have died after being hit by a train on the R3 line of Rodalies Renfe near Montmeló (Barcelona), between Parets del Vallès and Granollers-Canovelles stations, in a place prohibited for pedestrians.

As reported by Civil Protection in a message on X, old Twitter, collected by Europa Press, the Medical Emergency System (SEM) has confirmed the death of four people.

Of those affected, three have been transferred in mild condition to the Mollet Hospital (Barcelona), and another person has been discharged ‘in situ’.

The accident occurred at 8:22 p.m. when a group of seven people crossed the track “at an unauthorized point, on a curve and with difficult visibility” and a train on the R3 line ran over them, according to Renfe sources.

The convoy has encountered people and has not been able to “avoid the impact.”

There were about 170 passengers on the train, who did not need medical attention.

To care for the affected people, the SEM has deployed 9 ambulances, a helicopter and has activated three psychologists, and the Generalitat Firefighters have sent seven teams.

Civil Protection has activated the alert about the Ferrocat plan and Mossos d’Esquadra have opened an investigation to clarify the causes of the accident.

R3 DISRUPTED

The Rodalies R3 line does not run between Parets and Granollers-Canovelles (Barcelona).

Renfe is preparing an alternative road service for passengers affected by the line cut.
