The suspended president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales, this Friday accused the Government of Spain in a veiled manner for, in his opinion, insisting “on taking part and pressing” against him, after the Court Administrative Department of Sport (TAD) has described his kiss without consent to the player Jenni Hermoso as a “serious” offense.
“I am especially concerned that some of those who should proclaim and contribute to guaranteeing the separation of powers in our country, insist on taking part and pressing against me, instead of letting Justice act with all the guarantees, staying on the sidelines. Throughout this period I have suffered an unprecedented political and media lynching from which I have remained completely on the sidelines, not only nationally but worldwide,” Rubiales said in a note sent to various media outlets.
“Last August 20, I made some obvious mistakes, of which I sincerely regret, from the bottom of my heart. It is true that for such errors I have asked for forgiveness because it was fair; and now I do it again with humility. I do it convinced and with the purpose of improvement”, thus began his press release.
“I have learned that no matter how great the joy and deep the emotion, even when a World Cup is won, sports leaders must be required to behave exemplarily, and mine was not. Therefore, I reiterate, once again , my apologies for this to the soccer players, the Federation and other soccer estates in a clear, emphatic and unmitigated manner. Also to soccer fans and to all those who may have been offended by my actions,” added Rubiales.
In this sense, the RFEF president was blunt. “I also gave the corresponding explanations, telling the truth of what happened. It is my only version, the one that I have maintained from the beginning and I continue to defend and I will not modify. The spontaneity and happiness of the historic moment led us to carry out a mutual act and consented, the product of great enthusiasm. At no time was there any aggression; what’s more, there was not even the slightest discomfort, but an overflowing joy in both, “he argued about it.

I feel that something has changed and in the face of such spurious injustice and public judgment, ordinary citizens, women and men alike, They have joined. I want to thank you here and now. It is time to thank you infinitely for your immense support, for believing me, for not getting carried away by this campaign fabricated against me,” Rubiales insisted.
“Popular support reinforces me in the idea that this matter has been magnified and taken out of context for other reasons. I continue to trust the independence of the bodies where this issue must be resolved, despite the fact that political pressure and certain media are as interested as it is brutal, since the information on this matter is being subjected to a multitude of manipulations, lies and censorship, but the truth only has one path and for this reason, I repeat, I am confident that justice will be done”, he predicted.
“Today, the TAD has decided to open a file for me. As there is no reason, according to the resolution substantiated by said body, to classify any action as ‘very serious’, a provisional suspension may not be applied by the Board of Directors of the CSD. I will continue defending myself to demonstrate the truth,” Rubiales highlighted.
