VIGO, 31 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Prosecutor’s Office requests 4 years in prison for a man accused of a crime of revealing company secrets, for passing information from the company in which he had worked to another in the same sector, violating his obligation of secrecy and causing a breach of freedom competence.

The man was going to be tried last March in Criminal Court 3 in Vigo, but that hearing was suspended due to the contribution of new evidence by the defense, which had to be analyzed by the parties.

According to the Prosecutor’s brief, the defendant worked between 2018 and 2020 in a company for the sale of medical equipment and material located in Redondela (Pontevedra) and, when he no longer had an employment relationship with the firm, he used an email address that he had when was used to contact another competitor company.

Thus, he sent that other company a budget prepared for a client by his former employers, in a message that was answered by the recipient with: “Thank you, I will check and I will tell you.”

For these facts, the Prosecutor’s Office attributes a crime of revealing company secrets to him and requests that he be sentenced to 4 years in prison. He also asks that a fine of 6,480 euros be imposed on him and that he compensate his former company in the amounts that are expertly quantified as damages caused.
