MADRID, 19 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Acciona, through its infrastructure division, has signed an agreement with the Danish renewable energy giant Orsted to jointly develop solutions that make it possible to manufacture “large-scale foundations” for offshore wind farms.

As reported by the Spanish company on Wednesday, through this agreement, Acciona and Orsted will collaborate in the development of foundation models and will offer the market “easily adaptable” solutions for offshore wind turbines of different dimensions and depth levels.

In this sense, both companies will evaluate the mass production and at competitive costs of constructive solutions based on floating concrete platforms, while they will explore the use of materials such as ‘green’ cement and concrete.

Acciona has highlighted that, thanks to this agreement, the creation of a “strong European supply chain” will be promoted to support the portfolio of floating wind energy projects on the continent.

Denmark-based Orsted has more than 30 years of experience in developing offshore wind power projects. Acciona, for its part, has specialized maritime machinery and equipment and has three floating docks, including the Kugira.

The Spanish company recalled that the European Union has set itself the goal of reaching 60 gigawatts (GW) installed in offshore wind power in 2030 and 300 GW in 2050.

“This alliance will help us to accelerate the development of our business as a provider of offshore platforms for the wind industry,” stressed Huberto Moreno, CEO of Acciona Construction.

For his part, Rasmus Errboe, Executive Vice President and CEO of Europe at Orsted, explained that the objective of associating with Acciona “is to take floating wind energy from the current phase of innovation to a new stage of industrialization”.
