MADRID, 28 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz beat his compatriot and friend Pablo Carreño (6-3, 6-4) to reach the semi-final round of the Basel tournament (Switzerland), while Roberto Bautista also aspires to the final on the other side of the painting.

Alcaraz reached his ninth semifinal of the season in search of his sixth title and the first on the indoor track. Both tennis players who are members of the Juan Carlos Ferrero Equelite Academy met for the second time, after this year’s intensive day in Barcelona.

The Asturian planted more battle this time, but Alcaraz scored the first set taking advantage of the ‘break’ balls of the fourth game. In the second act, Alcaraz was forceful and broke first, but Carreño recovered with the 2-2. The Murcian continued to press the rest until he managed to secure the victory with another ‘break’.

For a place in the final, the world number one will have to change history against Felix Auger-Aliassime, since the Canadian has a 2-0 advantage in direct duels. The American added his eleventh victory in a row in the Circuit, he has just won the titles of Amaberes and Florencia, with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over the Kazakh Alexander Bublik.

Then it was the turn this Friday of a Bautista who also left a great version to overcome (7-5, 7-6(5)) the Swiss Stan Wawrinka. The man from Castellón, who is seeking his second indoor title this week, won the first heat after a crazy start.

The local idol gained confidence with the crowd and both kept their serve in the second set despite having several options to break. In sudden death, Bautista sealed his place in a penultimate round in Basel in which he will meet Danish Holger Rune or Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech.
