SD Almazán-Atlético de Madrid, Velarde CF-Sevilla FC and UD Alzira-Athletic Club will be some of the qualifiers for the first round of the Copa del Rey, which will be held on November 12 and 13 in a single match, according to reports the draw held this Monday in the Luis Aragonés Hall of the City of Football in Las Rozas (Madrid).
In a draw where only the four classified for the Spanish Super Cup have been exempt -Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, ??Real Betis and Valencia- and the champion of the First RFEF last season -Real Racing Club de Santander-, 110 teams – 16 from LaLiga Santander, 20 from LaLiga SmartBank, 19 from the First Federation, 34 from Second B, 7 from the Third Division, 4 from the Federation Cup and the 10 from territorial categories- have met their rivals for the start of the tournament.
Atlético de Madrid, ten-time champion of the ‘ko’ tournament, will face SD Almazán from Soriana at the La Arboleda de Almazán Municipal Stadium, while Athletic Club, with 23 trophies, will travel to Valencian lands to compete with UD Alzira at the Luis Suñer Stadium. Sevilla FC, who have lifted the Cup five times, will meet Velarde from Cantabria in Muriedas.

The president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales, highlighted the importance of holding the oldest tournament in Spanish football. “When we promoted the change of format, some people criticized it, but I think it’s already unanimous and beautiful.
