The consumption of automotive fuels reached 2.5 million tons in July, which represents an increase of 1.5% compared to the same month last year and 3.2% over the month of June, according to data of the Corporation of Strategic Reserves of Petroleum Products (Cores).

Specifically, gasoline consumption rebounded by 9.4% in the month compared to July 2022, while diesel decreased by 0.7%.

In the accumulated year, the consumption of automotive fuels decreased by 1.1% compared to the same period in 2022, with gasoline registering a growth of 6.4%, while automotive diesel decreased (-2, 9%).

In July, the consumption of LPG (18.9%), gasoline (9.4%) and kerosene (6.6%) rose, while that of fuel oils (-15.4%) and gas oils (-2.0 %).

Likewise, in the accumulated annual figure, the consumption of kerosene (13.0%), LPG (9.4%) and gasoline (6.4%) showed increases, while those of fuel oils (-7.3%) and gas oils (- 4.3%).

Regarding the consumption of natural gas, in July it fell by 16.8% compared to the same month last year, standing at 25,969 gigawatt hours (GWh).

That destined for electricity generation plummeted by 40.0%, while conventional and LNG for direct consumption increased by 11.3% and 13.3%, respectively).

Compared to June of this year, total consumption decreased (-0.4%), with conventional consumption (-3.8%) and LNG for direct consumption (-10.0%) falling, while that destined for generation increased electricity (6.0%).

In the annual accumulated, the consumption of natural gas fell by 14.4%; all types of consumption decreased, conventional (-10.2%), that destined for electricity generation (-24.0%) and LNG for direct consumption (-3.1%).
