MADRID, 24 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Celta and Getafe closed the eleventh day of LaLiga Santander 2022-2023 on Monday with a one-goal draw at the Balaídos Stadium, a result that does not prevent either of them from getting out of their bad dynamics, but which surely satisfied the locals more , who saved a point in the final bars.
The two teams came into the match with many doubts, the locals after three consecutive defeats, the last one very hard in Valladolid (4-1), and the visitors with four days without winning, although the last two at least added one point. And both states were reflected in a clash where the emotion was only given by the scoreboard and where there were hardly any chances for either. The ‘light blue’ remain with eleven points, one more than the ‘azulones’, with both very close to relegation.
From the beginning, the strengths and weaknesses of each one were already seen. Eduardo Coudet’s men tried to dominate, but they lacked offensive bite against Quique Sánchez Flores’ men, whose defensive discipline shone above all else.
Thus, in a first half marked by an injury on each side (Hugo Mallo and Fabrizio Angileri) and few occasions, except for a very clear one by Iago Aspas, who was very close to ‘catch’ a great shipment from Óscar Mingueza, in what the prelude to 0-1 at the stroke of rest. Unai Núñez fouled Enes Unal and the Turk placed his shot out of the reach of Agustín Marchesín.
Celta tried to rearm for the second half. The Galician team always took the initiative, but could not disarm the defensive network of a Getafe that had a good warning in a shot by Ángel Algobia in the early stages.
A shot from Gabriel Veiga, well repelled by David Soria, was the best by ‘Chacho’ Coudet’s men who dominated without much danger. A powerful shot from Portu took the breath away from the restless Balaídos stands in a final stretch where the locals found a reward at least for his insistence. Iago Aspas drew a great cross and Joseph Aidoo headed it into the net to save a point, although the one from Moaña was about to complete the comeback in extra time.
