The leader of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has confirmed Cuca Gamarra as general secretary of the party and has highlighted that she is the “best person” to “order” a PP “that has more territorial power than ever” and that has to “face the worst Government that Spain has had in its 45 years of democracy.”

“She has been a magnificent part-time general secretary and now she is going to be an excellent full-time general secretary,” Feijóo announced at the closing of the XVII Autonomous Congress of the Popular Party of La Rioja at the Albelda de Iregua Fairgrounds.

Feijóo has detailed that the decision is based on his experience. “We have seen how she has grown in the school of politics, which is municipalism, how she has been an excellent mayor of Logroño for a time,” she praised.

Likewise, he highlighted that she has been a great spokesperson in the Congress of Deputies. “She started the previous legislature as a rookie deputy and in just a year and a half she has taken over the leadership, control and respect of all of her colleagues,” she celebrated.

Likewise, he has highlighted his work in the last year and a half in which he has been in charge of the General Secretariat of the party. “She has shown that she knows how to work, that she works harder than anyone else, that she has intelligence, that she has the capacity to work and that she knows the party and, therefore, with her speed and her political vocation, she has shown that she is a reliable politician,” has asserted.

Feijóo has warned Gamarra that by becoming full-time general secretary of the PP “there is not little work ahead of her” because she has to “order a party that has more territorial power than ever” and has to “stand up to the worst Government that Spain has had in its 45 years of democracy.

“He is the best person to do it,” said the PP leader, who also said that from La Rioja, Gamarra “has given national politics the best of his resume and his experience.”
