MADRID, 31 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso (Alpine) was “very upset” with the abandonment this Sunday at the Mexican Grand Prix, after his engine stopped “again”, while showing the desire to finish the season.
“In the middle of the race I was comfortable. I was doing one of the best races of the year, I was 30 seconds ahead of my partner and the McLarens, and in the end I lost a cylinder, for 20 laps, making a fool of myself, and in the end it broke, which was the best,” he said in statements to Dazn, collected by Europa Press.
The Asturian driver was for a long time in seventh position, behind only the three best teams on the grid, but with six laps to go the car gave up. “I wanted to stop but the team wanted to wait to see if there was a safety car or by a miracle we stayed in the points. Again only car 14 and the truth is that I am very disappointed,” he said.
“It went very well until the engine stopped again. Happy with how the race went, with the personal performance. There are only two races left,” finished an Alonso who seems to show his desire for the season to end and his new adventure at Aston Martin to begin .
