He affirms that they are on the side of the citizenry “to alleviate any type of tension in prices, in oil or in any other product”

MADRID, 1 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Héctor Gómez, has expressed his confidence that there will be no shortage of food on supermarket shelves due to the impact of the drought, for which he has reassured the population, since “he does not see ” this scenario at present, but he is vigilant and would take action if necessary.

“We trust, hope and hope that this situation does not occur, and that is why the Government is working within the framework of the European Commission itself to have a joint response to these situations that are occurring, but we do not warn that this situation can occur at this moment. We do not see that this scenario could occur immediately or even in the short term, we did not notice it”, the Minister of Industry, Tourism and Commerce, Héctor Gómez, has settled in statements to ‘Al Rojo Vivo’ from La Sixth collected by Europa Press.

The head of Industry has thus referred to the FIAB notice, which warned yesterday of the possible impact that the drought could have on the supply of food and beverages, also demanding a hydrological plan with new interconnections and transfers.

“We trust and we hope that this situation does not happen. The competent ministries are working and have been proactive,” he stressed, noting that the head of Agriculture, Luis Planas, has already presented the plan against drought, while the Ecological Transition works to “attend to any type of anomaly that could happen”.

“We have experienced a particularly hard summer, but we are going to trust that we have a reality in the climate and that we can have rain soon and that this situation can be effectively resolved. What is undeniable is that we live in a framework of climate change that is conditioning our lives,” he recalled.

In this way, Gómez has defended that the Executive of Pedro Sánchez is “acting with great restraint” and “with very specific measures.” “We are obviously attentive to any anomaly that could occur in this regard. Obviously we are working to avoid any type of situation that affects the food supply,” he pointed out.

Regarding the soaring prices of olive oil and the recent statements by Planas in which he assured that if it rained heavily in the coming weeks the price would plummet, Gómez has not hesitated to describe the head of Agriculture as “perfect connoisseur of the sector” and that his messages “are very well founded.

“I believe that specific measures against the drought have been articulated to face all these conditions that are taking place today. The Government is always sensitive and permeable to adopt measures that can attend to supervening situations. Therefore, The Government will always be on the side of the citizenry to alleviate any type of price tension in whatever, be it oil or any other type of product, to prevent this situation from prolonging,” he reiterated.

In addition, the Minister of Industry recalled that Spain, together with Belgium, are the countries with the lowest inflation in all of Europe. “This says that the measures implemented have given very good results and in this case it will not be less,” he indicated.

“It is a Government that is always up to the challenges that have been posed to us, which have not been few, and obviously in this case as well. The Government always has alternatives and measures to counteract these effects that are having consequences negative,” he stressed.
