King Juan Carlos I will land this Wednesday around 12 noon at the Peinador de Vigo airport on a private flight from London.
As confirmed by official sources consulted by Europa Press, the arrival of the emeritus in the olive city is expected at “mid-morning”, around noon on Wednesday.
From Vigo, the father of Felipe VI will travel by car to the Pontevedra town of Sanxenxo, where he will participate with his boat, the ‘Bribón’, in a regatta of the Spanish sailing championship, which is being held this weekend.
In this way, Juan Carlos I returns to Spain almost a year after his last visit, precisely when he also visited the olive-growing city and then left for Sanxenxo.
The hospitality sector of the tourist Galician town, the residents and its visitors fit into “normality” the second trip in less than a year to Sanxenxo, which he went to in May 2022 in what was his first visit to Spain since in 2020 he established his residence in Abu Dhabi.
So, more than 200 media professionals traveled to Sanxenxo to cover the weekend that the former head of state spent in the Galician town, where he was staying at the house of his friend and president of the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo, Pedro fields.
Precisely this Tuesday the Government delegate in Galicia, José Ramón Gómez Besteiro, has been asked about the implementation of a special security device before the arrival of the emeritus in Peinador. He has said that it is a “private visit”, so the details of it “go through what the Civil Guard itself puts into operation through the technical protocols.”
Regarding whether there is a specific protocol, he has limited himself to saying that “it will be made available to what the Civil Guard itself marks at all times”, with the protocol established by the Benemérita.
This Tuesday, the King Emeritus is already in London where last night he went to an exclusive club with several other people, as reported by the ‘Daily Mail’ newspaper, which has published several images.
Don Juan Carlos visited the Oswald club, located in the center of the British capital and whose select members include Queen Consort Camilla, Prince William and former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Felipe VI’s father was seen leaving the club at 11:00 p.m. accompanied by two bodyguards who helped him with his movements and then he got into a vehicle, from which he greeted the journalists present.
The presence of the emeritus in London was expected since it is speculated that he could attend the clash between Real Madrid and Chelsea in the Champions League tonight.
Likewise, it had been pointed out that Don Juan Carlos was going to have a private lunch with Carlos III, to whose coronation on May 6 he is not expected to attend, although the British Embassy in Madrid refused this point.
The displacement of the emeritus is the prelude to the trip that will begin this Wednesday to Spain, the second he has made since he moved to the United Arab Emirates in August 2020.
