The Real Madrid basketball player Sergio Llull confessed this Thursday in a meeting at his home with the former Valencia Basket player Rafa Martínez that he is still not thinking about retiring and acknowledged that, in addition to being a “complicated” step, it is not for him either ” easy” to think about it after more than 20 years playing.
“I see myself playing at the moment and the truth is that this step, sometimes I think about it, and it has to be complicated. Being all day training, competing and traveling, with that adrenaline for wanting to win and do well and then suddenly to stop that and have to adapt. It doesn’t have to be easy when you’ve been playing for 20 years,” said the player in an interview for ACB, collected by Europa Press.
On the other hand, the man from Mahón ruled out the option of becoming a coach when he retires from basketball and confessed that once that moment arrives he wants to spend time with his family. “Becoming a coach I had always said no because you have to keep traveling. I have two girls and in the end you miss out on a lot,” he said.
The white captain recalled some of the most important moments of his career, among which is his signing for Real Madrid from Bàsquet Manresa in 2007. “I was a child. They told me not to comment on anything until everything was closed and I kept it quiet. This was on a Wednesday and on Thursday I was already taking the plane and signing in Madrid”, he concluded.
