Lugo, A Coruña and Santiago have been the cities chosen by the candidates of the three main Galician political parties to kick off the electoral campaign on the occasion of the regional elections on February 18.

On the day that begins at the polls, the president of the Xunta and popular candidate for re-election, Alfonso Rueda, will continue with his institutional agenda, with the weekly meeting of the Council in San Caetano.

At the electoral level, Rueda will travel to Lugo to participate in a central meeting with the provincial president of the PP and head of the list for this district, Elena Candia, and the person responsible for Novas Xeracións, Nicole Grueira. The last stop of the day will be in Santiago de Compostela, where she will participate in the traditional cartel campaign that marks the start of the 15-day campaign. It will be at Praza do Obradoiro at 11.15 pm.

For her part, the leader of the BNG and the party’s candidate for the Presidency of the Xunta, Ana Pontón, will participate in an event in the morning with the leaders of the party’s list for the four Galician provinces in the Bonaval Park of the Galician capital.

In the afternoon, at 8:00 p.m., he will open the campaign in the Campo da Leña in A Coruña together with Mercedes Queixas, who is running as number two on the list for this constituency, which is headed by Pontón itself.

The socialist José Ramón Gómez Besteiro, who will debut as a candidate for the Xunta after his return to the political front line, has chosen his hometown, Lugo, for his kick-off act of the electoral campaign. In addition, he himself is the head of the PSdeG list for the province.

In the Praza de Santa María he will be accompanied by the general vice-secretary of the PSOE and first vice president of the Government, María Jesús Montero. The event will take place before the posting of posters, which he will also carry out in the city of the Wall itself.

In addition, Podemos’s candidate for the Presidency of the Xunta, Isabel Faraldo, will also choose A Coruña for the ceremony. Specifically, she will be at the Millenium, in Labañou.

In the case of the formation led by Santiago Abascal, the city chosen to start the campaign will be Vigo, where the parliamentary spokesperson, Pepa Millán, will support the candidate, Álvaro Díaz-Mella, both in a political event and in the own posting of posters.
