Atlético de Madrid striker Álvaro Morata suffers from soft tissue edema in his ankle, the rojiblanco club has confirmed, which has ruled out a serious injury to the player, who left the pitch in the first minutes of the LaLiga Santander match on Saturday against Cádiz at the Nuevo Mirandilla (3-2).
“Álvaro Morata suffers from soft tissue edema in his ankle, according to the medical tests to which he underwent this Sunday morning,” the rojiblanco club reported in a statement issued this Sunday.
The Spanish international had to be substituted in the 10th minute of Saturday’s duel, in which Diego Pablo Simeone’s men fell in stoppage time due to a goal by Rubén Sobrino. Now, medical tests rule out any serious injury, which could have left the player without the World Cup in Qatar.
“The evolution of his discomfort will determine his incorporation into the group,” said the mattress entity, which did not offer an estimated time off for the Madrid striker.
