The fire declared on Thursday in the Castellón town of Villanueva de Viver already affects 3,000 hectares of surface area within a 30-kilometre perimeter and threatens to put the Sierra de Espadán natural park at risk, as pointed out by the Minister of Justice, Interior and Public Administration of the Valencian Community, Gabriela Bravo.

This NASA map shows the area affected by the fire in the last 24 hours. This is information offered by NASA from data collected by satellites with the aim of helping emergency services around the world to create active fire maps and monitor where the fires are moving in their evolution.

Bravo has assured at noon this Friday that these are “critical hours” in the Villanueva de Viver (Castellón) fire, because the flames continue to advance on the right flank towards Montanejos and Montán and have jumped into a ravine where they can only operate aerial means.
