MADRID, 17 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The acting Minister of Finance and Public Function, María Jesús Montero, highlighted this Friday the “good acceptance” that the financial markets have had for the re-election of Pedro Sánchez as President of the Government.

“Since the investiture of President Sánchez became certain, there has been a rise in the Ibex and, therefore, the price of our companies on the stock market. This means good acceptance by the financial markets of the stability that this support represents. President Sánchez has had,” the minister stressed.

Montero, in statements to Telecinco reported by Europa Press, responded in this way when asked about the warnings from the business world, the last one made yesterday by the president of Mercadona, Juan Roig, regarding the instability generated by the current political situation.

The acting head of the Treasury has stated that Spanish businessmen “have given an unequivocal example of the contribution they make to stability and social dialogue, which is the basis of the economic policy” of the Government, “where all the important modifications are have developed hand in hand between unions and employers”.

“I am convinced that beyond any particular expression, the businessmen of this country will continue to adopt that commitment of responsibility that we miss in the opposition party to get down to work and do what we all want, that we continue to be a a thriving country in economic matters, leading economic growth, fighting inflation better than other countries, also trying to combat unemployment and increasing the competitiveness of our companies,” stated Montero.

For the minister, “once these moments of great intoxication have passed” regarding the possibilities of forming a Government, we are now in a position to work with the entire business community, as Pedro Sánchez’s Executive did “during the entire previous legislature.”

The minister has acknowledged that, after Sánchez’s inauguration, “everyone” will be on the phone waiting for the president to form a Government that, in her opinion, “is going to be good for Spain and for the economy.”
