Obtaining the SERMI certificate with DEKRA Certification to perform repair and maintenance tasks related to vehicle safety
Madrid, March 14, 2024.- The SERMI certificate will be mandatory in Spain from April 1, 2024 for independent automobile workshops, mechanics and dealers that carry out repair and maintenance tasks related to vehicle anti-theft and security systems. from any manufacturer.
What will happen from that day on?
From that date, those who do not have this certification will not have access to the information on the security systems of the different brands, so they will not be able to work on programming keys or locks, updating the software, requesting parts related to these systems, etc
How do you know if the activities and services provided by the workshop or independent operator are subject to SERMI certification?
The certification is aimed at repair shops; manufacturers and commercial distributors of workshop equipment, tools or spare parts; technical information editors; automobile clubs; roadside assistance services; providers of maintenance and control services, training and development centers for mechanics; and manufacturers and repair personnel for vehicle equipment, among others.
It is important to know that this certification can only be obtained through certifying entities accredited by ENAC (National Accreditation Entity), such as DEKRA Certification, which are the entities authorized to carry out the necessary verifications under the regulations and legal requirements of SERMI, both from the workshop as well as the employees to be authorized.
The certification process consists of a documentary review and an on-site inspection. The certificate will be valid for 5 years and must be renewed 6 months before the expiration date.
