Madrid, March 12, 2024.- This March 16, the virtual reality film Ànima Performativa by Jeroni Obrador will premiere internationally, it will be part of the ‘Ànima extensiva’ event in Catalan, which includes the use of virtual reality glasses from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and, at 11:30 a.m., the conference on virtual, scenic and emotional reality will take place, given by Obrador and the film director Jo Sol. It will be in the recently opened s’Abeurador space in Santanyí, Mallorca. A multifunctional space that the viewer attends in person and in which the rest of the world can connect both by streaming, with which the conference can be followed on the Intelsoul channel, and through virtual reality.
An event sponsored by the Santanyí City Council, in which the Generalitat of Catalonia collaborates in the production of the film Ànima Performativa, which will be viewed with virtual reality glasses. The duration of the film is 40 minutes and it can also be viewed in capsules of about 5 minutes for each basic emotion. In the conference, the moment that society faces with the arrival of Artificial Intelligence will be presented, as well as extensive Reality, in its immersive, mixed, differentiated, virtual variants… the aim is to debate the urgency in democratizing the acting knowledge of emotions from their pedagogy. And the creator proposes through performance and acting technique in the film, as in his theatrical genre Ànima, if someone taught to “write” and memorize emotions, an essential fact for conscious communication, to “read oneself.” ” to oneself and to others. But above all to gain the necessary ground for Artificial Intelligence, which is capable of doing so.
Ànima is the theatrical genre that allows the spectator to learn the pedagogical acting technique of emotion, investigated by Obrador, and at the same time enjoy a show:
“As children we are taught to write the alphabet once we have learned to speak, but with emotions no one teaches us to memorize, and become aware of them, to use them in our daily life and our communication, thus there is no awareness of the emotions as language, nor sophistication possible from the decision to choose the feeling. It is as if we were emotionally illiterate, only interpreters have based all these millennia their work on the ability to represent and force emotional expression, but neither have they done so since the process, but from the result, it has not mattered to create a pedagogical process of emotion, a fact that has often caused mental health problems or has increased them, for example as in the case of Heath Ledger with the Joker, or as they have recognized actresses of the stature of Anne Hethaway or Jane Fonda,” says Jeroni Obrador.
Ànima Performativa is the first virtual reality film with actors and of these characteristics worldwide. Created by a Balearic Islander, it can be premiered in his town, Santanyí, and can be purchased on international virtual reality platforms starting in June, also in Spanish and English. During the week of March 17 to 25, the creator will be in Nau Ivanow, Barcelona, ??where the film can be viewed with glasses by actors and professionals in the performing arts sector, to open an investigation into the need for actor’s emotional body memory, as indispensable tool of human communication and emotional self-management.
Obrador has already been recognized internationally by universities, cultural institutions, as well as Latin American festivals, theaters and circuits. His work in the pedagogy of emotion through acting technique and the creation of the theatrical genre Ànima, emotional training for all audiences, already stands out as a pioneer in the field of the stage and now also of virtual reality.
His method has been endorsed and supported by the Teatre Lliure of Barcelona in its Directors Lab Med, the Manizales Festival and the University of Buenos Aires, as well as supported by various national and international institutions, such as the ESAD of Seville, the Ministry of Culture of Uruguay or the same Consell de Mallorca that supports this theatrical genre in the Performing Arts Circuit of Mallorca. This genre is giving a lot of talk since it was born in a pandemic in a workshop at the Petra theater and was performed at the Palau de Congresos in Palma de Mallorca, since International Festivals such as the Santiago Off in Chile, the Brújula al Sur in Cali in Colombia, or the La Parisina residence center next to the Universidad de Maria in Córdoba, Argentina, promote their representation in Latin America with various productions with professional actors, students, or mental health users; being applicable to actors, therapists and educators around the world as a new basic teaching of emotions.
“We cannot allow Artificial Intelligence to take over knowledge that affects us all in the most basic of our being without the entire society knowing it,” says Obrador. “Becoming aware of the emotional alphabet is the beginning of a new perspective that will allow the viewer to understand themselves, self-analyze their character and better understand the feelings of others; The leap in emotional intelligence is assured and experiential.”
